Privacy Policy

Overview

AriLing: To-Do List (“AriLing,” “the app,” “we,” “us”) is a task management app for iPhone and iPad, published by AriLing (ariling.com). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app and this website. We wrote it to describe, plainly, what AriLing actually does — not a generic list of everything an app could possibly do.

The short version: AriLing doesn't have its own user accounts or its own servers. Your tasks live on your device and, if you turn sync on, move between your own devices through your personal iCloud account — never through a server we operate. Everything below explains where the few exceptions are, including the parts of the app (Face ID and in-app purchases) that are handled entirely by Apple's own frameworks.

Data we collect

AriLing itself does not operate any servers that collect your personal data. Specifically:

• No AriLing account. You never create a profile or enter an email address to use the app. Sync uses the Apple ID already signed into your device.
• No task content is sent to us. The titles, due dates, notes, colors and lists you create are never uploaded to any server AriLing operates.
• No location, contacts, or photo access is requested or used by the app.
• No unique advertising identifiers are collected or shared.

The one thing your data does touch outside your device is Apple's iCloud, described next — and that's a service you control, not one we operate.

Local storage & iCloud sync

By default, your tasks, lists, tags and settings (including your chosen color theme and language) are saved using Apple's on-device storage frameworks, in the app's private storage area on your iPhone or iPad.

If you turn on iCloud sync, that same data is also stored in your personal iCloud account, using Apple's CloudKit private database. “Private” here means Apple's own private-database sandbox for the app in your iCloud account — a space we cannot see, access, or read. It's a way to move data between your own devices, not a way for AriLing to collect it. Apple's iCloud is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

If you delete the app, its on-device data is removed along with it, subject to how your device backups are configured. If you also want to remove synced data from iCloud, see Your choices below.

Face ID & Touch ID

AriLing lets you lock the app behind Face ID or Touch ID so a glance at your unlocked phone doesn't reveal your task list. This works entirely through Apple's Local Authentication framework: AriLing asks iOS “did this person's face/fingerprint match?” and iOS answers yes or no. AriLing never receives, stores, or has access to any biometric data itself — that stays inside Apple's Secure Enclave on your device, governed by Apple's own privacy protections.

In-app purchases

AriLing offers an optional Premium upgrade as an in-app purchase. All payment is handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit and your App Store account — AriLing never sees or stores your card number, billing address, or other payment details. Apple shares with us only what's needed to unlock Premium features on your account, such as your purchase/subscription status; this is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

Widgets & notifications

AriLing's lock-screen and home-screen widgets read your task data directly from the same local storage the app uses, through Apple's WidgetKit framework. Widget content is rendered locally and is not transmitted anywhere. If you enable reminders for a task, the reminder is scheduled locally through iOS notifications — we do not operate a push-notification server that sees your task content.

Analytics, ads & tracking

AriLing does not show ads, and does not include third-party advertising SDKs or tracking SDKs of any kind. We don't track you across other apps or websites, and we don't sell or rent your data to anyone — we don't collect the kind of data that could be sold. We may rely on Apple's own aggregated, privacy-preserving App Store metrics (such as anonymous download counts and crash reports, if you've opted into sharing those with Apple) to understand how the app is performing; this is controlled entirely by your iOS Privacy settings, not by us.

Third parties

AriLing does not share, sell, or transfer your task data to third parties, because we don't collect it in the first place. The only third party involved in your use of the app is Apple, through the App Store, iCloud/CloudKit sync, StoreKit purchases, WidgetKit, notifications and Local Authentication frameworks described above — each governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

Your choices

• Turn off iCloud sync at any time from within the app's Settings, or by disabling AriLing under iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud.
• Delete synced data from iCloud by deleting your tasks in-app (removals sync too), or by turning off sync and deleting the app's iCloud data from iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
• Turn off Face ID protection at any time from within the app's Settings.
• Manage or cancel Premium at any time from iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or via the App Store, the same as any other subscription.
• Remove widgets at any time from your iPhone's widget gallery.
• Delete your data by deleting individual tasks and lists in-app, or by deleting the app itself, which removes its local storage.
• Control notifications for AriLing from iOS Settings → Notifications.

Children's privacy

AriLing is a general-audience productivity app and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children, and does not show ads or include tracking SDKs. If you believe a child has shared personal information with us directly (for example, by email), contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change what AriLing collects or how it works with your data, we'll update this page and change the “Last updated” date at the top. For material changes, we'll aim to reflect them in the App Store release notes for the version that introduces them.
